This has been a fun-filled summer preparing Kathryn for our trip (or as I like to call it “adventure”) to Corpus Christi, TX via the waterways of the USA.  For weeks now, we have become good friends with the UPS driver who is constantly bringing packages for MORE boat projects for Steve.  My job has been to organize the living space.  Steve is tired of hearing, “A place for everything, everything in its place”.  After lots of hard work, we decided we needed to take a small voyage, just to check out the boat.  So, we were off across Lake Michigan to Chicago!  Our youngest son, Andrew, lives in the city, so it was a twofold trip.  We had a wonderful three days despite the HEAT, one BIG thunderstorm AND Lolapoloosa in Grant Park right across from Monroe Harbor where we were on a “can”.  To hear six bands playing at once, did not make sweet music to our ears out on the water. The trip home was delayed by a day due to high winds and rough seas. Our conclusion after our sail, we are just about ready for our Sept. 1st departure.

Kathryn is our 1988 Island Packet 38 foot sailboat. We have sailed her on Lake Michigan for the past five years. In September we are beginning a trip from Michigan City, Indiana to our new home on North Padre Island in Corpus Christi Texas.
